The specialist workshop of LWI Lappwaldbahn Instandhaltung (LWI) has been the official second service support point for EMD in Germany since 01.01.2018. EMD is a 100% subsidiary of Progress Rail, which in turn is a division of the Caterpillar Group. Progress Rail headquarters are located in Albertville in the state of Alabama (USA).
EMD offers customers an extensive pallet of services for EMD Class-66 locomotives, such as full service maintenance contracts, OEM spare parts, refits, retrofits and modernisation of locomotives and general technical support.
EMD is an authorised vendor of spare parts and components for EMD diesel-electric locomotives and keeps a large inventory both in Great Britain and continental Europe in order to deliver quickly to customers.
Since October 2019, the LWI workshop has also been an official service support point for Stadler Rail Service Deutschland GmbH (SRS) for the build series 159 (EuroDual). SRS is a subsidiary of Stadler Rail AG, a globally leading manufacturer of rail vehicles from Switzerland.
